Day 1 : Denpasar – Banyuwangi - Ijen Resort
Morning departure from your hotel in Bali. A private car whisks you along the island’s scenic west coast, a slice of the real Bali few tourist see. Stop for photos on some terraced ricefields, rustic villages and surging surf beaches during the two and a half hour drive to Gilimanuk. Short ferry crossing over the strait to Java.
Upon arrival proceed to a city tour in the small town of Banyuwangi, bechak (pedi-cab) ride visiting the kampongs in the city, traditional market and a Chinese temple. End of the afternoon drive up to Ijen Resort and Villas, your luxurious accommodation, perched at the edge of the rainforest in the foothills of the volcanoes.

Day 2 : Ijen Resort – Ijen Crater - Denpasar
After an early wake-up call and breakfast, a four wheel drive vehicle carries you through the rural villages, coffee and clove plantations and then into one of Java’s last rainforests. Humidity, wildlife, giant ferns and big trees cover the slope of the mountain. From the Park Ranger’s post starts the 90 minute hike to Ijen Crater. The stunning view is unveiled at 2883 meters altitude. The lake eerie color and smoke wafting from bright yellow sulfur deposits create the landscape both desolate, barren and vibrantly alive. Watching miners descend into the crater and re-emerge carrying up to 80 kilos of ore on bamboo basket along the treacherous path. Afterward walk back down the mountain. Return to hotel for a rest or a plunge in the pool, before leaving for ferry to Bali. Arrive at your hotel in the early evening.

Depart early in the morning to Muncar to visit one of most beautiful fishing ports of Java Island. It is one of the biggest and the most crowded, with hundreds of traditional fishing boats, beautifully colored and ornamented colonizing the bay, going in and out for big fishing over the Indian Ocean. Then stop at Gintangan village to see the traditional bamboo handy craft. Afterwards drive to Ketapang and cross the straight to the island of Bali. Arrival in Denpasar in the evening.

A short visit can be done in Surabaya City; the Arab Quarter and the Zoo (tropical birds and the famous dragon of Komodo) before departing to Bromo – Tengger region. Day 2 : Bromo – Ijen Resort
Early wake-up call, at 03h00 before dawn. Leave the hotel for Cemoro Lawang, from where by crossing the calderas, to get to the feet of mount Bromo and then on horse-back or simply walk climbing up the track. The spectacular chain of the volcanoes (Bromo, Batok and Semeru) is unveiling itself in a magnificent view. Bromo Crater is one of the multitudes of active craters throughout Java. The observation may take at leisure before driving back to the hotel for breakfast.

This region is one of the most important plantation area established during the Dutch colonial period in the island of Java. The Dutch company had transformed nearly all the fertile lands and valleys to become the famous coffee, cacao and rubber plantations. They are all nationalized half century ago and up till now remain the important resources for the region. End of afternoon arrive at hotel. Overnight at Kalibaru Cottage.

Day 3 : Kalibaru - Muncar -Ijen Resort
Leave the hotel in the morning to Muncar for visiting one of the biggest, the most crowded fishing port in the island of Java. Hundreds of traditional fishing boats, beautifully colored and ornamented colonize the bay.
Afterward drive to Banyuwangi city tour in Banyuwangi town in bechak pedi-cab to see the local market, the traditional kampongs and a beautiful Chinese temple which dates back to the end of eighteen century. Then on to the hotel. Overnight at Ijen Resort and Villas.

Depart from your hotel in Bali in the morning, by minibus, takes you through the beautiful western part of the island with its rice paddy field and rustic villages that spread all over the region. It is two and a half hour drive to arrive in Gilimanuk where the crossing by ferry takes place. Lunch at local restaurant. Drive on to the village of Grand Bromo. Dinner and overnight at Grand Bromo.

Day 2 : Bromo – Malang
Early wake-up call, at 03h00 in the morning. Leave the hotel for mount Bromo by crossing the caldera to get to the feet of mount Bromo and then by horse or simply by walk climbing up the track.. The spectacular chain of the volcanoes (Bromo, Batok and Semeru) is unveiling itself in a magnificent view. After the observation drive back to the hotel and preparation to Malang. On the way to Malang visit the apple plantation with nice view of surrounding village, stop at Tumpang for Candi Jago. Lunch enroute at a local restaurant.
After lunch continue to Malang. Dinner and over night at Regent hotel.

Day 3 : Malang - Kalibaru
Leave the hotel in the morning to the most eastern part of Java island passing through the mountainous roads over the cities of Lumajang and Jember. End of afternoon arrive at Kalibaru. This region is one of the most important plantation areas which date back to the Dutch colonial era in the island of Java. Overnight and dinner at Kalibaru Cottages.

Day 4 : Kalibaru - Muncar – Ijen Resort

Day 3 : Muncar – Ijen Resort

Day 4 : Ijen Resort - Ijen Crater – Denpasar
Early wake-up call. After breakfast at the hotel drive to the village of Licin and then in a four wheel drive vehicle to the slope of Mount Ijen, passing through plantations and rainforest. This is one of the few wildlife left in the island of Java with giant ferns and big trees. Pause at the Park Ranger’s post before hiking further up to the slope of the crater. About one hour and a half to two hours is needed to ascend the rim of the crater along a shady track with amazing views. Take a rest on the edge of the crater at 2883 meters altitude. The sulfuric lake reflects eerie color over the surrounding walls to give an apocalypse like impression. Men seeking the sulfur descend into the crater and climb back up along the dangerous rim with loads of up to 80 kilos on their shoulders. The crater observation will take at leisure. Back to the hotel for Lunch.

Day 5 : Ijen Resort - Denpasar
Leaving to Denpasar.
