Formerly Lombok was a dominion state of Karangasem Balinese kingdom, which justifies the significant number of Balinese inhabitants and Hindu social and religious buildings around the region.
Among those monuments is Narmada, an ancient resting palace of the former king, with special water spring believed to give rejuvenating effects to peoples. Taman Mayura the meeting place for royal dignities, and Lingsar the most important Hindu temple in Lombok.
The visit of the main market give you the cheerful local colors and also local odors.
